It's Time To Add LED!
With more and more people starting to create images and videos as part of their business or hobbies. We are often asked what is the best sort of light that does, basically everything from video production and TikTok to portrait and product photography? The obvious answer is LED, in particular LED monolights! Like the new LumNX80
When most people think of LEDs they probably think of those flickering small, dim lights that they messed about with in science class at school! Those types of LEDs are called DIP LEDs (Dual In-Line Package). They are also the type used to indicate when your TV is off!
COB LED lights (Chip On Board) are the latest incarnation of the humble LED. They are essentially an array of LED chips that are closely packed together, creating one large LED. This forms a powerful light that can be easily focused and controlled as well as being incredibly cost effective. This means single COB Monolights are perfect for videographers, photographers and live streamers.
Fovitec’s new state of the art LED monolight light, the Lumnx80 is simple to use and works with all types of camera. Whether you’re part of the analog resurgence or you're using the latest mirrorless camera or smartphone, compatibility is not an issue here! It has been designed to be robust and reliable, offering exceptional value for money. With a large variety of modifying options you can control and shape this light anyway you want.
The downside to a COB LED, is the heat that it creates. With such a huge amount of light in a small area, the heat is very focussed and requires cooling. Fovitec’s LED Monolight combates this issue by adding huge heatsinks that surround the LED panel to draw heat away. They are also fitted with whisper quiet fans (>30db @1m) to make sure they can keep cool and not interfere with any audio.
LED technology is constantly being improved, becoming lighter, brighter and even more energy efficient, making them environmentally friendly. Now more than ever, LEDs are a more popular light source to traditional incandescent or fluorescent lights.
