Photography Lights for Business
Your Business, Your Image
What camera should I have is a question that we get asked a lot at Fovitec. It’s an important one, but the question you should really be asking is this: “what photography lighting should I get?” We will give you recommendations below as well as an explanation of when to use which lighting kit.
Continuous Lighting & Cameras
Having the newest camera can make a big difference if you’re in a low light scenario or, shooting objects in motion. You won’t face these situations when taking product photography. As you have a continuous light source and your camera is usually mounted on a tripod you need not worry.
If you have a DSLR, point-and-shoot, or even a smartphone, it’s likely that investing in lighting will improve your product photography more than investing in a new camera.
Picking the Correct Lights
Fluorescent: These lights are energy efficient, powerful and great value for money. If you have a set up that you don't need to move these lights are perfect for you.
LED: LED lights are very energy efficient and produce very little heat. This type of light is great for food photography, objects and when you need a more powerful light, They are composed of lots of small “light emitting diodes” (LED's) and generally last a long time.
Flash: For us, flash is a big no no with product photography, unlike continuous you will need to do test shots to check the light and change your settings, With continuous lighting you'll be able to see it live.

Fantastic studio light
I love this light. I have soft boxes in my home TV Studio but couldn’t use one over head as I only have limited head room. This light is absolutely perfect. Combined with the barn doors and filters (sold separately) it gives out a very controllerable light. I’ll be replacing all my dog box lights with these in due course.
Well built to stand the test of time
I needed this to shoot video clips for a client recently. It's a well built rugged unit that should stand the test of time. The light output is very good and the ability to alter the colour temperature is a real bonus.
Fovitec 600 Panel
I am very pleased with my purchase and definitely worth the money. (Will be buying more) It comes in a white unmarked box. ( packaged very well) This model offers AC power, V-mount compatible, barn doors are included with this model ( already installed ) and And diffusion panels. (5600K and White defuser)
Frequently Asked Question
A. Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) have been in common use for over half a century, mainly in electronic equipment, where they’re used as signals and indicators (standby lights, for example). It is only in recent years that LED light bulbs have been widely available. They are an energy efficient, longer lasting replacement for incandescent light bulbs. They emit the same brightness as traditional bulbs, using only a fraction of the power.
A. Lumens (lm) are a measure of the amount of visible light that a lamp emits. It is used to determine the brightness of a bulb (unlike a bulb’s wattage, which has no direct relation to its brightness). A typical bulb for use around the home might have a lumens output between 300-500lm, while high-powered floodlights can have a lumens output in excess of 20,000lm.
CFL stands for Compact Fluorescent Lamp, a small fluorescent light bulb that uses 75% less energy than a traditional incandescent bulb and can be screwed into the light fixing,
